XPEL PPF Installation in Vancouver – Certified Installers, 10-Year Transferable Warranty

Gleamworks is a certified XPEL installer in Vancouver, BC — meaning every installation we complete is backed by XPEL’s full manufacturer warranty, with no loopholes, no middlemen, and no surprises.

What Is XPEL PPF?

There’s a spec on every PPF quote sheet that most customers never ask about — and it’s the one that determines whether your film still looks flawless at year seven, or starts lifting at the door edges by year three. That spec is the warranty transferability clause. XPEL is one of only two major brands that offers a fully transferable 10-year warranty. That single detail changes the financial calculus for every Vancouver driver who plans to sell or trade their vehicle.

XPEL Paint Protection Film is a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) film applied directly to your vehicle’s painted surfaces. It absorbs rock chips, road debris, UV radiation, and environmental contaminants before they reach your paint. On a daily commute on the Trans-Canada or a weekend trip up to Whistler, your front end takes a constant beating — XPEL takes that punishment instead of your paint.

What separates XPEL from the rest of the market is the combination of their proprietary self-healing topcoat and their Design Access Program (DAP) — a digital template library with over 80,000 precision pre-cut patterns. That means no cutting directly on your paint during installation. Every panel is pre-cut to factory tolerances, wrapped around edges, and sealed. The result holds up under Vancouver’s wet winters, road brine season, and Pacific coast UV exposure without peeling, yellowing, or cracking.

XPEL PPF Product Lines

XPEL offers four distinct product lines. Not every shop explains the difference. Here’s what they actually are:

STEALTH converts a gloss paint finish to satin without touching the factory paint — ideal if you want a colour-shift without a full wrap.

ARMOR is purpose-built for trucks, off-road vehicles, or anyone who drives logging roads, gravel, or the Sea-to-Sky Highway in October.

XPEL PPF Warranty — What You Actually Get

XPEL provides a 10-year limited warranty covering yellowing, cracking, bubbling, and peeling. That’s standard. Here’s what’s not standard: the warranty is fully transferable to a subsequent vehicle owner, provided the original warranty documentation is maintained.

That transferability clause is worth more than people realize. If you sell a $90,000 vehicle with documented XPEL PPF and a transferable warranty, you’re offering the buyer real, ongoing protection — and that’s a negotiating advantage. Brands like STEK, SunTek, and LLumar don’t offer this. Their warranties terminate the moment the title changes hands.

Warranty Term Details
Duration 10 Years from installation date
Coverage Yellowing, cracking, bubbling, peeling, delamination
Transferable? Yes — with original documentation passed to new owner
Canadian Coverage Full — honoured across authorized BC dealers
What Voids It Non-certified installation, improper maintenance, intentional damage, severe impact damage
Headlights Excluded from coverage (standard across all PPF brands)
Warranty Remedy Removal and replacement of defective film by authorized installer

One thing we're clear about upfront: the XPEL warranty is voided if the film is installed by a non-certified installer. This matters because any shop can purchase XPEL film and apply it. But if you need a warranty claim and the installer wasn't certified, XPEL can — and does — reject the claim. Certification isn't a marketing badge. It's your insurance policy.

At Gleamworks, we walk you through the warranty documentation at the time of installation and keep records on file. If a warranty issue arises, we handle the claim process with XPEL directly. You don't navigate that yourself.

Is XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS worth the premium price over SunTek or STEK?

For most Vancouver drivers, the honest answer is: it depends on how long you plan to keep the vehicle and whether you'll sell it. XPEL's 10-year transferable warranty is the decisive advantage — SunTek and STEK warranties don't transfer at all. If you're protecting a vehicle you'll own for 7+ years or plan to sell with the protection in place, XPEL's warranty structure justifies the 15–25% price premium over comparable films. If you're on a shorter ownership horizon or leasing, a mid-premium film may offer better value per dollar.

Does XPEL PPF require a ceramic coating on top?

XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS does not require a secondary ceramic coating to perform well. The film includes a self-healing topcoat with hydrophobic properties. However, adding XPEL's own FUSION PLUS ceramic coating over the film does enhance hydrophobicity, adds a deeper gloss, and can extend the life of the topcoat. If you want the ceramic-integrated option without the extra step, XPEL ULTIMATE FUSION includes the ceramic infusion built into the film from the factory.

How long does the XPEL self-healing effect actually last?

The self-healing layer is built into the topcoat — it's not a surface treatment that wears off. Under normal conditions, owners with 7 to 10 years of use report continued self-healing performance throughout the film's life. The activation mechanism requires moderate heat: direct sunlight, warm water, or an engine-warmed hood will initiate recovery for most light scratches and swirl marks within 20–60 minutes. Deep scratches or cuts that penetrate through the topcoat will not self-heal — but those are events the film absorbs to protect the paint underneath.

Is the XPEL warranty fully transferable if I sell my car?

Yes. XPEL's warranty is transferable to a subsequent owner, provided the original warranty documentation is passed along with the vehicle at the time of sale. The new owner assumes the remaining warranty term from the original installation date. This is one of XPEL's clearest advantages over competitors like STEK, SunTek, and LLumar — all of which restrict their warranties to the original purchaser only.

Will XPEL STEALTH change my factory paint colour to a true matte finish?

XPEL STEALTH converts a gloss paint finish to a satin finish — not a dead matte. The result is similar to what many factory matte paints look like from the factory. It will significantly reduce the gloss of a standard gloss finish and add a premium satin depth. It won't match a true vinyl matte wrap in flatness. For vehicles with factory matte paint, STEALTH protects the finish without altering its appearance. It also carries the same 10-year warranty as XPEL's gloss films.

How do I make a warranty claim on my XPEL PPF in BC?

All warranty claims for XPEL PPF installed at Gleamworks are handled through us. Contact our studio directly — we assess the issue, document it, and submit the claim to XPEL on your behalf. You don't need to contact XPEL directly or navigate the corporate process yourself. This is one of the advantages of working with a certified installer who keeps installation records on file.
